On the 9th of July 2026, the people of Ohuhu Community received a major boost following the successful attraction of a ₦10 million empowerment initiative facilitated through the Bet9ja Foundation by Chief Rtn Uchechukwu Udeji popularly known as Nwa Ghana.
The empowerment programme, aimed at improving livelihoods and promoting entrepreneurship, provided essential tools and equipment to dozens of beneficiaries across various skilled professions, helping them strengthen their businesses and become more economically independent.
Expressing appreciation to the Bet9ja Foundation, community members described the intervention as a timely investment in the future of Ohuhu women and youths. The initiative is expected to create employment opportunities, enhance vocational skills, and support small-scale enterprises within the community.
The beneficiaries received empowerment items tailored to their trades, including plumbing machines, welding equipment, painting kits, industrial cooking gas cylinders for caterers and snack vendors, bench grinders for market women, drilling machines for fabricators, tilling machines for farmers, sewing machines for fashion designers, rework stations for phone repair technicians, furniture-making kits, microblading machines for beauty professionals, wireless microphones for DJs and MCs, barbering kits, make-up kits, chairs for business owners, shoe-making equipment, and complete hairdressing kits.
Among the beneficiaries are artisans, entrepreneurs, market women, caterers, fashion designers, barbers, beauticians, furniture makers, welders, plumbers, phone repair technicians, farmers, and other skilled professionals drawn from communities across Ohuhu.
Some of the recipients include Chukwudi Timothy, Chukwudi Ijeoma, Chibuike Ekeleme, Oluomachi Blessing, Amarachi Bosah, Odochi Ukaegbu, Chibuike Jenat, Emenike Nduka, Emmanuella Uchenna, Madam Ada John I., Njideka Igweoku, Chinomso Okwudiri, Nwakaego Iheanacho, Chisara Ogbonna, Ifeyinwa Kelechi Jonathan, Chinasa Onyekwere Adimibe, Chioma Clement Nwaosu, Easter Ajukwonu Lucky, Amarachi Ukagwu, Ogbuso Ezinne Favour, Egwuonwu Kenneth Chibuzo, Chibuzo Ikwunze, Chukwuma Nneji, Emmanuel Izuchukwu, Peter Onwuka, Nnadi Uchechukwu, Ikenna Nnodemele, Onyedikachi Larry, Solomon Anyway, Stella Akaliro, Nwakaego Inegbu, Udodirim Amalambu, Precious Okezie, Ngozi Nzenwata, Ugonna Ikwunze, Silver Nwankwo, Onyechere Uzoamaka, Uchechukwu Chima, Emmanuel Ucheoma, Chidera Angolaba, Sunday Ekpo, Onuoha Kingsley, Chiagoie Nwolaoke, Emmanuel Ebuniro, Emeka Azurunwa, Frank Ugochukwu, Ogbonna Solomon, Nduka Emenike, Ulunma Chibuikem, Joy Emeruwa, Onyebuchi Okorie, Ezinwa Utaegbulem, Oluomachi Ofoegbu, Ekwedike Chinomso, Chiamaka Ihunze, Kelechi Mbakwe, Michelle Enyennaya, Chimereze Favour, Ebere Ukachi, Amarachi Daniel, and Chiaju Nwaosu.
Residents praised the initiative, noting that access to modern working tools will enable beneficiaries to expand their businesses, increase productivity, and contribute to the economic development of Ohuhu. They also commended Nwa Ghana for facilitating the programme and acknowledged the Bet9ja Foundation for investing in grassroots empowerment.

The event was held at Egwuneleke hall at Okaiuga Nkwoegwu where other villagers converged, and well attended by Ohuhu Stakeholders like High Chief Ogbonna who represented the Ohuhu welfare Union as the secretary of the Ohuhu welfare Union caretaker committee amongst other dignitaries like community youth leaders.

The empowerment programme highlights the growing importance of partnerships between private foundations and community leaders in creating sustainable economic opportunities for young people and women across Nigeria.
