Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has predicted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will emerge as the only party capable of winning the presidential election in the FCT in 2027.
Wike made the assertion on September 2 while highlighting his administration’s efforts to demonstrate that effective governance is achievable when leaders are committed to delivering results.
According to the FCT Minister, his confidence is largely based on his record of infrastructure development during his tenure as governor of Rivers State.
Wike recalled that he completed 12 flyovers within four years as governor, stressing that the achievement reflected his approach to governance and project execution.
“I came to the FCT to prove a point; there is nothing difficult about governance if you choose to work,” Wike said.
He added that contractors who worked with his administration in Rivers State were familiar with the standards he maintained while executing public projects.
The minister also portrayed himself as an important figure in delivering political and governance results for President Bola Tinubu in both Rivers State and the FCT, suggesting that his impact would not necessarily depend on being given a formal campaign position.
Wike’s prediction has generated mixed reactions, particularly across social media. While some supporters have pointed to his infrastructure record as evidence of his capacity to deliver, critics have argued that governance should also be measured by improvements in education, healthcare, employment opportunities and the overall welfare of residents.
The comments come as political activities gradually intensify ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, with major political parties expected to strengthen their structures and seek greater support across the country.
