The Abia State Government has expressed profound grief over the tragic death of Mr. Kelechi Ejiofor, a trailer driver who was fatally shot during an incident involving a soldier at the Uratta Timber Market in Aba.
In an official press release dated April 13, 2026, the government described the incident as heartbreaking and deeply unfortunate, noting that it has left residents across the state in mourning. Authorities extended heartfelt condolences to the deceased’s family, friends, and all those affected by the loss.
To address public concerns and ensure accountability, the state government confirmed it is currently engaging with the Military High Command to launch a comprehensive, transparent, and unbiased investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Officials reassured the public that justice will be fully pursued, emphasizing that any personnel found responsible will face strict disciplinary and legal consequences. The government stressed that justice will not only be done but will also be seen to be done.
