The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has announced its endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 general election, describing the decision as one driven by national interest, unity, and the need to sustain ongoing development across Nigeria.
In a press statement, the party said its support for President Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), reflects its belief that the country’s progress should take precedence over political differences.
According to the statement, the PDP praised President Tinubu for his confidence in the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief (Barr.) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, whose leadership in Abuja was described as transformational. The party noted that numerous infrastructure projects and development initiatives carried out under Wike’s administration have significantly improved the Federal Capital Territory and positively impacted residents.
The statement also referenced the recent FCT Area Council elections, where PDP candidates reportedly stepped down in support of APC candidates. The party described the move as a demonstration of political cooperation and patriotism, adding that the same spirit should guide stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general election.
The PDP further expressed support for President Tinubu’s economic reform agenda, acknowledging that while the policies have required sacrifices from Nigerians, they are intended to strengthen the nation’s economy and lay the foundation for long-term prosperity.
The party argued that granting President Tinubu a second term would provide an opportunity to consolidate ongoing reforms, accelerate national development, and promote political stability.
As part of its resolution, the PDP called on its members, supporters, and stakeholders across the country to support the APC-led administration at all levels and work towards President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
The statement also conveyed appreciation to President Tinubu and Chief Nyesom Wike for what it described as their commitment to national development, particularly the ongoing transformation of the Federal Capital Territory through infrastructure expansion and governance reforms.

Reaffirming its position, the party concluded with a pledge of support for President Tinubu’s mandate while expressing optimism about Nigeria’s future.
