INEC announces final phase of CVR from May 11 to July 10, 2026. Eligible Nigerians urged to register, update details, and verify voter records.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the resumption of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise for its third and final phase, scheduled to commence on Monday, May 11, 2026.
According to the Commission, the second phase of the CVR was temporarily halted on April 17, 2026, to enable a thorough clean-up of the voter register following its publication for public scrutiny, including claims and objections by registrants. This step was aimed at improving the accuracy and credibility of the electoral database.
INEC confirmed that the final phase of the registration exercise will run from May 11 to July 10, 2026. During this period, all eligible Nigerians who have reached the age of 18, as well as those who missed earlier registration windows, are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to register.
In addition, already registered voters who wish to transfer their registration, update personal information, or replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) can do so via the Commission’s official CVR portal or by visiting INEC offices across states and Local Government Areas nationwide.
As part of the process, the voter register will be displayed for public verification from July 23 to July 29, 2026. This exercise allows citizens to review the register, raise objections where necessary, and contribute to ensuring a transparent and credible voters’ database.
INEC reassured the public that all logistics and arrangements have been finalized to guarantee a smooth and efficient exercise. The Commission further urged all eligible citizens to participate actively, emphasizing that voter registration remains a critical step in strengthening Nigeria’s democratic process.
