BREAKING: Court Orders ICPC to Arrest Former Minister Uche Nnaji Over Alleged Certificate Forgery

A Federal High Court in Abuja has reportedly ordered the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to arrest former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, over allegations of certificate forgery.

The court order followed an ex parte application filed by the anti-corruption agency after Nnaji allegedly failed to honour several invitations issued by the commission in connection with an ongoing investigation. According to reports, the suit was filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja, where the ICPC sought legal approval to declare the former minister wanted and secure a warrant for his arrest.

In its ruling, the court granted the commission’s request, authorising the issuance of a warrant of arrest against Nnaji. The order also empowers ICPC operatives and other law enforcement agencies to apprehend him and hand him over to the commission for investigation. Reports indicate that the court further approved the commission’s request to publicly declare the former minister wanted until he is arrested.

Court documents reportedly show that Nnaji is being investigated for alleged certificate forgery, abuse of office, and conferment of unfair advantage during his time in public office. The ICPC is expected to continue its investigation and may proceed with prosecution if sufficient evidence is established.

The case is linked to allegations surrounding academic and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) credentials allegedly submitted during Nnaji’s ministerial confirmation process. The controversy had previously attracted national attention and eventually led to his resignation from office in 2025.

As of the time of filing this report, neither Nnaji nor his legal representatives had publicly responded to the latest court order. The ICPC is also yet to announce any arrest following the court’s directive.

The development marks a significant turn in a case that has remained in the public spotlight for months and could have broader implications for accountability and integrity in public service.
