Igbo Youths in Abia Urged to Get Voters Card Ahead of July 10 Registration Deadline, Prepare for Town hall Meeting

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide Youth Wing Abia Chapter has called on young people across Abia State to take advantage of the ongoing Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) registration exercise and ensure they are eligible to participate in the forthcoming general elections.

In a statement issued by the Abia State Youth Leader, Comrade Ihunweze Ifeanyi called on youths who have not yet registered for their PVCs & those who just turned 18 this year to do so before the registration window closes on July 10, 2026.

According to him, the PVC remains the most powerful tool for citizens to influence governance and determine the future direction of their communities through democratic participation. He stressed that every eligible young person must take responsibility by obtaining a new PVC, renewing a damaged or lost card, or transferring their registration to Abia State where necessary. While speaking on Curiosity Nation TV, he reminded the Igbo youths in Abia that without the PVC no youth has no business around the Voting centers during elections and asked that they use the Voters card as their power to determine what happens at the Polling units and possibly at the Ward Centers before results of the elections are moved to the Collation centers for recording and tabulations.

Comrade Ihunweze noted that many young people often complain about leadership and development challenges but fail to take the necessary steps to participate in the electoral process. He emphasized that active involvement in elections begins with possessing a valid PVC.

The Abia State Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo youth leader further urged students, artisans, traders, professionals, and other eligible residents of igbo origin to mobilize their peers and family members to complete their registration before the deadline.

He reminded prospective voters that the ongoing PVC registration exercise is scheduled to end on July 10, making it important for all eligible citizens to act promptly and avoid last-minute rush or excuses.

“Your PVC is your voice and your power in a democracy. We encourage every eligible Igbo youth, especially those in Abia State, to register, renew lost cards, or transfer their PVCs without delay. The future of our people depends on our active participation in the democratic process,” he stated.

The youth leader reaffirmed its commitment to promoting civic engagement among young people and called for greater voter awareness ahead of future elections in Nigeria.

Comrade Ihunweze Ifeanyi further noted that the interests, concerns, and aspirations of Igbo youths in Abia State are now being properly channeled to the appropriate authorities and relevant stakeholders for attention and action.

He urged youths across the state to remain united, engaged, and prepared for the forthcoming Abia Community Youths Town Hall Meeting, which is expected to provide a platform for constructive dialogue on issues affecting young people and the future of the state.

According to him, the date for the statewide event will be announced soon after the inauguration of the planning committee, which is currently being put in place.
